I have an MSI GeForce GT-610 2GB VRAM card but the heat sink is too large to fit my small desktop case. I was offered a larger case, 2nd license, DVD-Recorder (for ROM only medium ), 4 GB RAM for $189 in special ($219 regular). Offer is valid until next Friday.
However, I was offered a Sapphire Radeon H5450 1 GB card which will fit in my system without requiring an external video card adapter which btw only is designed to connect to a laptop power supply... That means that the adapter would require another power connector adapter... (Which I can't find yet, as it's possibly not even done or sold yet.)
The new card is another $50, $57 with taxes. This http://www.amazon.ca/SAPPHIRE-5450-PCIE-1GB-DDR3/dp/B004N3BH0C
Amazon link shows the card sideways with no heat sink being wider than the bracket, and so should fit in the connector without obstruction from the ethernet card connector and the 2 mounted USB connector (protected by a silver metal case). |

After buying the Sapphire Radeon H5450 card, it turned out that the case I tried to connect in is a low profile design. That means that I cannot install the Sapphire Radeon H5450 card which is not a low profile card. The VGA connector is positioned over the low-profile position which is over the top of the case. The case would not close. The VGA connector is also too close to the side of the case to be able to connect the VGA cable. I will however get a refund for it in the next 14 days, being, tomorrow, unless I am called for work like now.
So, all in all, I will need a new $189 system with a second Windows 7 license which is currently sold at $219 +. (Taxes not included...) I don't think that I will pay that amount on next Friday November 6, 2015. That may mean that I will not be able to run EVE Online before 2016.
Also, I may or may not get the internet at home, which would allow me to do programming ... |

After going back to get a refund, the store informed me that the card had LP brackets included in the box. The 2 brackets that were included were just that, to fit the VGA connector on the side bracket slot to the left of my current PCIe connector bracket slot.
And it worked. I couldn't do it myself , as I didn't have any pairs of pliers that could unscrew those little VGA (or SVGA) screw in which you stabilize the VGA cable. So, I didn't test it yet, as I stopped at the nearby library on my way back to where the system is (home) to post this. I am pretty sure that it is going to work this time.
It will also save me $189 in 2 days, though I will have 2 GB less RAM and 1 GB less VRAM... Unless I want to dual box and dual client? |

Except I was dinged another $790 and I'm overdraft. That last charged should be reversed again today shortly.
+ I won't be able to get a new internet connection until I get more income from work or other.
I have to go to the bank to fix this for the second time from 2 weeks ago now. However, due to this second error, I don't expect to get a new internet connection for another month or so... |

I spent the money on other opportunities I had since they too may have gone away, but at least I had more reliable information about it.
Anyways, it seems it is not all that worth it for me. This isn't Facebook or Instagram. Starting a thread saying you didn't buy something is right up there with starting a thread that you didn't take your morning dump. It's completely irrelevant and no one cares. Mr Epeen lol, yes it is , so why are you not buying it? |

Jenshae Chiroptera wrote:The machine that just died was a 2 core, 3GHz, 4GB RAM, GT 630. I would recommend graphics cards with a "6" in the second diget. Such as GT 660 or a 760 or in Radeon's case the Radeon HD 5550 doesn't look bad at all but it is clearly a huge step up from the 5450. Processors, I would say i3 and newer. Always check for how many threads go with the cores and make sure that it is a hyper threading processor. You can usually Wiki things and look for these key words. ExampleRAM, 2 GB tends to run out of RAM if you start running things like Mumble, Team Speak and a web browser with more than one or two tabs open. I recommend 3 GB+ or better to be safer 4GB+. As you have seen, low profile or slim computers are annoying to get parts for them and they are a bit like laptops in being heat suseptable and losing effectiveness as a result. If you do have one, clean it regularly. What state are you in? Maybe we can help spot something on E-bay or Newegg. ty very much. I just managed to get refunded for a fraudulent $784 and change against one of my 2 bank accounts. I then closed the accounts so the perpetrator could not continue to charge me for systems that wouldn't work, be it physical or theoretical ones.
Also today , I got a $10 worth of internet for 5 hours which ended around 2:30 PM 2 times around $1.65 for cod fish fritters. I then bought 1 temporary card at $2 for 1 hour. And now bought a second temporary card at $2 for 1 hour + a $3 Bowl Noodle Soup .
Maybe it wouldn't work to get me to get something on Newegg or E-bay. I'm in a state of no return like the whole EVE community . |
